Hey Folks,
It's that time of year again... It's getting colder, we're staying inside more, and our younger children become more susceptible to colds, flus, and other infections. So the PromiseLand Team and I thought it would be a good time to remind everyone about our precautions for reducing the risks to our kids in PromiseLand as it relates to our admission policy.
For everyone's convenience, we'll put a copy of this reminder next to the Registration Desk in PromiseLand as well.
OK?
Here goes...
----------
A child should not be permitted into PromiseLand if any of the following is significantly exhibited 24 priors prior to coming to church.
- Fever
- Vomiting and/or diarrhea
- Runny nose with any colored discharge
- Sore throat
- Any unexplained rash
- Any skin infection
- Pink eye and other eye infections
Under no circumstances should a child be permitted in PromiseLand with any of the following:
- Head lice (not until they are nit-free)
- Significant symptoms of childhood diseases, such as, scarlet fever, measles, mumps, chicken pox, and whooping cough.
Absolutely no admittance for the following until 48 hours from the 1st dose of medication. Ideally, the parent should provide the prescription information including the date filled.
- Conjunctivitis
- Strep Throat
If necessary, PromiseLand leadership will facilitate the redirecting of this child by by discussing with the child's parent(s) about the concerns of infecting other children in PromiseLand and by providing the parent(s) with a copy of our "Sick Child" guidelines.
If symptoms emerge while a child is in PromiseLand, then a parent will be contacted through beeper, overhead call system, or personal retrieval.
If a confirmed or potential infectious episode with a child attending PromiseLand is identified, we will do our best to notify the parents of the other children that attended that same session by the following means:
- Without releasing the actual child's name, we will send a church-wide email for those on our distribution list.
- For new visitors or those without email, we will call them using the telephone number recorded on our Registration Form for each child.
We will reclean all toys and equipment per our disinfecting protocols.
----------
Whew!
That was a lot to consider.
The bottom line is we want E-V-E-R-Y child to experience a safe and nurturing experience while at PromiseLand. To do that, there may be times when we need to carefully consider the admittance of a child to our group setting. I hope everyone understands sometimes that can be a delicate balance.
If you ever feel concerned, please do not hesitate to discuss your concerns with Ida MacRae, Rita Messina, or myself. We are here to serve.
